2011 Digital Signage Expo

I attended the 2011 Digital Signage Expo to do some research on current touch monitors and what may be announced in the next few months. The most impressive and useful information is the thin 46" LCD available from NEC and LG. I met with the executives of several companies and we have some options for adding single touch to these monitors without adding anything to the bezel. This is of particular interest to the design goals of the CMA LLC project. There are several short video clips below that demonstrates the key points of the touch technologies. The trade show was not large so I was able to visit all of the vendors of interest to our applications in the 7 hours I had to be on the show floor.

Flexable Video LED Surface

This was just cool. Indoor/Outdoor flexible LED video surface. It reminded me of a heavy canvas material.

NEC 46" 3mm bezel LCD Stacked

NEC had 2 46" thin bezel LCD displays stacked. The seam was thin but noticeable

Christie Buzz Wall (Interactive Microtile)

This is the Christie Microtile in a limited interactive application. Note the IR emitter and camera on the arm above the display.

Lumio Multi-Touch Demo

This is the PQ Labs surrounding a projection screen and making the display multi-touch.

NEC 46" 3mm bezel LCD

This is the top corner of a 2x2 display made of the NEC 3mm bezel LCD display. This can be made into a single touch, touch screen with wrapping the touch interface around the edges.

PQ Labs Demo

This is a demo of the 6 point multi-touch demo of the PQ Labs frame that will make a screen multi-touch. You can see the click, drag and release function of the interface. This is a projection screen with the PQ Labs frame around it.

This is a multi-touch table from 3M. It is running some matching software similar to the sorting and Matching concept for LLC
